Vocalis Causa Presentation

Project type

2023 Presentation

Date

March 2023

The Escobar Chamber Vocal Ensemble was founded in early 2018 by its director and member, Tomás Davidis, with the intention of creating a space for professional chamber vocal performance in Ingeniero Maschwitz, Escobar district.

In these years, the group has focused on the study and performance of early vocal music (from the Renaissance to the Classical period) as opposed to a repertoire of contemporary vocal music (particularly pieces inspired by early sacred vocal music).

Their repertoire features works by internationally renowned contemporary composers such as Arvo Pärt, Ola Gjeilo, Vitautas Miskinis, and David Childs, among others.

Currently, the chamber vocal ensemble consists of eight singers with the following vocal ranges: soprano, mezzo-soprano, alto, tenor, baritone, and bass.

Soprano: Daniela Nardini
Mezzo-soprano: María Ocampo
Contralto 1: Carolina Wagner
Contralto 2: Cecilia Gauna
Tenor: Tomás Davidis (Director)
Baritone: Pedro Guiraud
Bass 1: Ignacio Beñacar
Bass 2: Ezequiel Benencio Rotundo

Since its founding, the choir has performed in various churches in the Escobar district and other towns, as well as in different theaters, notably its performance at the Seminari Theater.

Its mission is to promote and disseminate chamber choral singing by bringing together professional singers from the Escobar district and creating a space for excellence and exchange with other groups dedicated to classical music.
